Invitation and Call for Papers
The 10th Biannual Joint Meeting of the CNC/CIE and CIE/USA and celebration of the IYL2015
October 18-20, 2015
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Join us in Toronto for two days of technical presentations, business meetings and networking opportunities with many of the leading researchers and practitioners in the science and art of light and lighting. In celebration of the UNESCO designation of 2015 as the International Year of Light, this joint meeting will include special outreach events to raise public awareness about the contributions of the CIE and its work in the field of light and lighting technologies. All topics within the CIE portfolio will be discussed during these two days — including updates from the Division meetings taking place at the 28th quadrennial CIE session earlier in July in Manchester, UK.
The meeting starts with a reception on Sunday evening, October 18, 2015, at the hotel. The technical and business meetings will take place at the University of Toronto in downtown Toronto. October 19 is the Technical Day, with formal presentations on a broad range of topics in light and lighting, including a special student presentation by the winner of the CNC/CIE IYL 2015 High School Science Competition. On the Monday evening, the CNC/CIE will host a free public lecture by Prof. George Brainard on the exciting ways that lighting can affect human health at a nearby venue. Tuesday, October 20 is the CIE business day, with a joint morning session to share information about the activities in the seven CIE divisions and separate CNC/CIE and USA/CIE business meetings in the afternoon.
A block of rooms is being held for this event at the Holiday Inn Toronto Bloor Yorkville, 280 Bloor St. West at a rate of $130 CAD (Popular model:1 Queensize bed) to $145 CAD (Executive model:1 Kingsize bed) + tax single or double occupancy.
