Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to promote the Erasmus+ JMD "Colour in Science and Industry (COSI)" master programme starting from September 2015.

The objective is to educate students in advanced methodologies, applied models and practical applications with 2 goals: enhance the employability and improve career prospects of graduates on one hand and meet the needs of industrials on the other hand.

COSI involves 4 EU HEIs as Full Partners: University Jean Monnet (UJM – FR) University of Granada (UGR- SP), University of Eastern Finland  (UEF–FI), Gjøvik University College (GUC–NO); 5 Associated Industrial Partners: Olympus Corporation (Japan), Specim (Finland), Tecnalia (Spain), Chromasens (Germany) and SoftColor Ltd (Finland); 4 HEIs in Asia as Associated Academic Partners: Monash University, Malaysia (MUM-Malaysia), Chulalongkorn University (CHULA -Thailand), Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT-Japan) and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB -Indonesia); and 10 Supporting Partners.

The JMD scholarship programme offers talented prospective students the unique opportunity to pursue a degree in COSI master programme, and study in three different campuses (France, Spain and – depending on the concentration chosen – Norway or Finland). The EACEA has committed to providing approximately 2 million euro towards attracting highly motivated, excellent students in COSI.

The deadline for the first student application is February 27, 2015.

Colour News November 2014 from ECD Chair Verena M. Schindler

Request for reference regarding LE CORBUSIER:

Do you know whether or not Corbusier designed an apartment in Berlin with a coloured interior, in which the colours are carefully calibrated to appear a single tone of grey when photographed in black and white? I was told about this interior, but have been unable to find reference to it since.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Verena M. Schindler

Community in Full Colour

By Sylvia O'Brien:

Being Canadian & in the colour business I can't help but be charmed by the landscape of some of our east coast cities. St. John's Newfoundland, for example (see photos) 'thumbs its nose' at the harsh climate with a cityscape full of colour, not only with its Victorian / 2nd Empire buildings, but also with it's simple box rowhouses. The area of St. John's in the photographs is known as Jellybean Row. So let's see...we have a black house (licorice) next to a red one (cherry) next to a blue one (blueberry) next to an orange one (mango) next to a green one (lime) next to a yellow one (lemon) and so on. A delicious visual. Sort of 'mind candy'.
